Urinary Incontinence Treatment: A Common Health Problem in Women

Women’s Health
Urinary Incontinence Treatment: A Common Health Problem in Women Urinary incontinence is a health problem that negatively affects women’s quality of life and is often hidden due to feelings of embarrassment. It can occur especially in older ages, in women who have given birth, or after certain illnesses. However, with accurate diagnosis and treatment methods, it is possible to prevent this condition. What is Urinary Incontinence? Known in medical literature as urinary incontinence, it is the inability of a person to voluntarily control urination. This problem can cause restrictions in daily activities and also create psychological challenges. Causes In women, urinary incontinence can be caused by different reasons: Weakening of pelvic muscles after normal childbirth Decreased estrogen levels during menopause Overweight and obesity Chronic cough, constipation, or heavy lifting Nervous system diseases Symptoms Sudden urge to urinate and leakage before reaching the toilet Leakage during laughing, coughing, or sneezing Frequent urination at night Dribbling even after the bladder is emptied When these symptoms appear, it is necessary to consult a gynecologist without hesitation. Treatment Methods The treatment of urinary incontinence varies depending on the underlying cause and severity: Lifestyle Changes Losing excess weight Regulating fluid intake Quitting smoking Exercises Kegel exercises to strengthen pelvic floor muscles Regular muscle training to increase control Medical and Surgical Methods Drug therapy Laser treatments Surgical interventions when necessary
