Radiology Specialist Dr. Melike TULAY from Özel Ordu Sevgi Hospital emphasized the importance of the detailed ultrasound scan performed between the 18th and 22nd weeks of pregnancy for the early diagnosis of structural abnormalities that may develop during fetal growth.

“This procedure evaluates only the baby’s organs that can be visualized sonographically. Many systems are examined, from brain development to spinal structure, and from heart chambers to kidneys and stomach. In this way, conditions that may require intervention before birth can be detected early.”

Dr. TULAY stated that performing detailed ultrasounds with high-resolution devices and specially trained physicians directly affects diagnostic accuracy, noting that some structural anomalies can only be detected with experienced eyes and proper technical equipment.
She also added, “A timely imaging scan plays a critical role in the health of both mother and baby.”
