Ordu – MRI Scans with Anesthesia Provide Comfort for Patients with Device Anxiety
Specialist Dr. Doğuş Ünal: “Imaging is not only a technical process but also one that requires psychological preparation.”
Private Ordu Sevgi Hospital Anesthesiology and Reanimation Specialist Dr. Doğuş Ünal provided information about the MRI scan service with anesthesia offered to patients who cannot undergo Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) due to reasons such as claustrophobia, high anxiety levels, severe pain, or mental disabilities.
“Some patients experience intense anxiety about entering the device, which can make the imaging process difficult. In such special cases, an evaluation is made based on the patient’s general health status and needs. After all risks are thoroughly discussed with the patient and family, a decision is made to administer sedation. In this way, the procedure can be completed both safely and comfortably,” he said.
He stated that in the planning of the anesthetized MRI procedure, the patient is comprehensively evaluated before the procedure, and the necessary medical examinations are performed.
“The patient’s condition is monitored during the procedure, and precautions are taken against possible risks,” he said.
