Ordu – Dermatological Assessment Is Essential in PRP and Mesotherapy-Based Hair Treatments
Dr. Oktay OĞUZLU: “Hair loss is not merely a cosmetic concern, but a dermatological condition requiring medical evaluation.”
Dermatologist Dr. Oktay OĞUZLU from Özel Ordu Sevgi Hospital provided insights into PRP and mesotherapy, two commonly used methods in recent years for treating hair loss. He emphasized that such treatments are only beneficial when guided by accurate diagnosis and appropriate patient selection.
“PRP involves applying platelet-rich plasma derived from the patient’s own blood to the scalp to stimulate tissue regeneration. Mesotherapy, on the other hand, delivers supportive nutrients like vitamins, minerals, and amino acids directly into the scalp through microinjections. When combined, these treatments may offer positive results depending on the type and severity of hair loss. However, they should not be used routinely for every patient.”
Dr. OĞUZLU highlighted that hair loss can be linked to hormonal imbalances, stress, poor nutrition, or autoimmune conditions. “PRP and mesotherapy are supportive, not curative treatments. The treatment plan should always be tailored based on the underlying cause,” he said, emphasizing that a holistic approach and early specialist evaluation significantly enhance treatment success.
