Understanding Menopause
Op. Dr. Halil Alagöz – Obstetrician & Gynecologist
Hello, I’m Op. Dr. Halil Alagöz.
Today, I’d like to share some important information with you about menopause.
Menopause can affect a woman’s life with symptoms such as anxiety, anger, memory issues, and irregular or heavy bleeding. During this time, many women may feel lost and alone. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) can help improve quality of life during this stage.
It may also present with cognitive symptoms like “brain fog,” where one has trouble remembering things or finding the right words during conversation.
Other common symptoms include low libido, vaginal dryness, dry skin, and insomnia. These complaints can last for about 3 to 5 years.
Menopause can also affect blood chemistry and pose risks to heart health.
How Hormone Replacement Therapy Helps
Eases hot flashes and night sweats
Improves sleep quality
Reduces vaginal dryness and itching
Makes sexual activity less painful
Helps prevent fractures related to osteoporosis
May lower the risk of heart disease and dementia
With newer, more natural and personalized HRT options available, it is possible to better cope with menopause and reduce its negative impact on health.
